Dream it.

Unfortunately, 2020 created a void in youth sports as governing officials created policies that in most cases cancelled their seasons. In California, and especially San Diego Counties - the 2020 youth football season was cancelled. While most, pessimistically threw the towel- there was a group of well respected gentlemen with like-minded ideas to explore an opportunity to serve the youth of San Diego, Ca in these very trying times.

Build it.

It all began with an idea led by SDUAA President Milton Clark and former NFL San Diego Charger, and well respected youth and high school championship Coach Stephen Cooper with the assistance of De’Artis Stevens, J. Watson, Jovanim Martinez and Russell Nothaft whom all currently sit on the SDUAA Board of Directors.

Grow it.

Together, these individuals became one and created a world-class organization that in its inaugural year formed three highly competitive travel football teams (9U-Martinez, 11U-Rivers, 12U-Cooper). At different periods of time they were all highly regionally ranked in the top 10 and played in exhibition and tournament play across the nation. The 12U team ended their year as the AYF D1 Western Regional Champions and the 11U team made history by winning the 2020 D2 11U AYF National Championship.

Congratulations to the players, their parents and Head Coach Herb Rivers and staff for representing SDUAA, the SD Bolts and the city of San Diego, Ca and its surrounding communities for earning the title National Champions.

SDUAA Co-Founder and Former NFL Linebacker

Stephen Cooper, a former collegiate football All-American and NFL linebacker whom played his entire professional career for the San Diego Chargers is currently serving the communities of San Diego as a championship high school and youth football coach. He is a personal trainer that has sacrificed sweat, blood and tears by giving back to the youth. He has an addictive enthusiasm and drive with a philosophy to every goal to have NO FEAR, giving goals NO LIMITS , and to absolutely have NO EXCUSES!

“I used to be a kid [that] looked up to my coaches. These kids need help. They need guidance. They might open up to me. I just have to pay it back. The men that coached me throughout my youth molded me into the person I am today” (SouthCoastToday.com, 4/2020).

His experience and tireless duty to the community have been duly noted and recognized in the media - but he remains very humble and genuine as he is often quoted praising his fellow SDUAA board members for the initial successes of the organization.

In the off season, Coach Coop and the SDUAA with assistance of other championship winning coaches and volunteers offers H.I.T.T and football developmental camps for all levels that are primarily based around mastering the basic fundamentals of becoming a more superior athlete.

Coach Coop is also the head coach of the 13U San Diego Bolts. He is also the Director of Competition for SDUAA. All volunteers and interested coaches who believe they meet the criteria of becoming an SD Bolt or would like to volunteer in any capacity then please feel free to contact SDUAA through email or social media.
